iStyle: Brick Lane Folk

Transient

I haven't seen Alae since getting back from India, so we spent the whole day on Saturday eating and shopping our way through Brick Lane to catch up. While I've been struggling to get back into the winter look since my weekend of sun in Mumbai, Alae has her A/W look down. Her inner J-Lo is obsessed with fur (faux!) so she's been loving this leather Topshop jacket which has a removable fur collar for some instant 'just add drama'.

A lot of the shops on Brick Lane are starting to look the same, but we knew we'd found our people when we noticed that  Folk Clothing (just off Brick Lane) stock the 'Made in Africa' SAWA sneakers. We also loved their own-brand's handcrafted aesthetic, the creative attention to detail and their interesting sourcing, which all make for the perfect subtle statement pieces. We thought their menswear was a bit more wearable than their womenswear, which is still fine as both Alae and I have never been shy of borrowing from boyfriends, brothers or fathers when they're not looking.
